Cookie policy

Cookie use on the SwaedUAE website — essential cookies, optional analytics, and your choices under UAE PDPL.

Last updated: 30 July 2026

This Cookie Policy explains how SwaedUAE Association for Culture and Community Empowerment (“SwaedUAE”, “we”, “us”), affiliated with the Ministry of Community Development (MoCD), uses cookies and similar technologies on https://swaeduae.ae and related public web properties (the “Website”).

It should be read with our Privacy policy. Mobile apps use device permissions and SDKs rather than browser cookies; app data practices are covered in the Privacy policy.

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. Similar technologies include local storage, session storage, and pixels. Some cookies are essential for the site to work; others help us understand usage or remember preferences.

Under the UAE Personal Data Protection Law (Federal Decree-Law No. 45 of 2021), identifiers collected via cookies (such as IP address or unique IDs) can constitute personal data. Non-essential cookies that process personal data require clear, informed consent before they are set.

How we use cookies

Category Purpose Consent
Strictly necessary Security, load balancing, session login, cookie-consent storage, language/locale, CSRF protection, fraud prevention Required for the Website to function; set on the basis of necessity / legitimate operation of the service
Preferences Remember language, accessibility, or UI choices you select Set when you choose the preference, or with consent where required
Analytics Understand aggregated traffic and improve pages (e.g. page views, referrals) Opt-in via the cookie banner before activation
Marketing / advertising Not used by default for SwaedUAE institutional pages Only if explicitly enabled in future — opt-in required; never for targeting children

We do not sell cookie data. We do not use cookies for commercial profiling of children.

Examples of necessary cookies

Depending on configuration, necessary cookies may include:

  • Session / authentication cookies for logged-in volunteers and organisation users
  • Security tokens (e.g. CSRF)
  • Cookie-consent preference cookie (records your choice)
  • Locale / language preference

Exact cookie names may change as the Platform evolves; the banner and this policy describe categories and purposes.

Analytics cookies

If you accept analytics, we may use a privacy-conscious analytics tool to measure Website performance. Analytics cookies will not load until you accept them (or an equivalent granular choice). You can reject analytics and still use the Website.

Managing your choices

  • Use the cookie banner on first visit to Accept, Reject non-essential, or manage categories.
  • Re-open preferences via the Cookie settings link in the Website footer (when enabled) or clear site cookies in your browser and revisit.
  • Browser controls: most browsers let you block or delete cookies; blocking necessary cookies may break login and forms.

Withdrawing consent for analytics does not affect the lawfulness of prior processing based on consent.

Third parties

Where a consented analytics or other provider sets cookies, that provider may process data as described in their own documentation and under our instructions as a processor where applicable. See the Privacy policy for international transfers.

Children

The Website is used in a community and volunteering context that may involve youth. We do not use non-essential cookies to target or profile children. See Child safety standards.

Changes

We may update this Cookie Policy when our technologies or legal requirements change. The “Last updated” date will be revised accordingly.
